Rapid Eyewear's Pro Performance prescription cricket sunglasses are renowned as being some of the best on the market, and yet for all of their qualities, they offer amazing value for money. You can choose to have your single-vision or bifocal lenses added by selecting the appropriate option from the drop-down menu above, and then adding your prescription details in the fields provided. If you are not certain how to do this, please call us on 01622 812133.
Our prescription sunglasses for cricket are built around a matt-black finished frame that has a prescription Rx clip housed in the back, whilst the tinted, interchangeable lenses sit on the front. This two-part arrangement allows for great versatility and performance, whilst the wrap-around styling blocks unwanted wind and light encroaching from the sides and bottom of your vision. The Pro Performance sunglasses look good too, easily matching the style of many non-prescription sport sunglasses designs.
The frames are lightweight and tough, whilst the Rx clip, made from an ultra tough TR90 compound, ensures maximum protection for your eyes from impact.
The tinted lenses clip onto the top of the frames, allowing them to be flipped up for momentary 'normal' vision when required.
Wrap-around sunglasses offer great benefits when it comes to blocking unwanted light and wind from the sides of your vision, but placing a curved lens in front of your eyes would normally cause distortion. However, all Rapid Eyewear lens sets are de-centred, which means they are calibrated to remove the distorting effect.
By filtering blue light, Rapid Eyewear lenses improve contrast and depth perception, making them perfect for cricket. Polarised lenses remove glare by filtering horizontal light.
The Pro Performance prescription sunglasses come with the following as standard:
Pro Performance sunglasses can be used for any regular prescription where the SPH (Sphere) requirement is no greater than plus or minus 4.5. Due to the curvature of the tinted lenses, they will not be suitable for those with very strong prescription requirements that exceed 4.5.
They are also suitable for bi-focal, varifocal and prismatic lenses but please note, we cannot add varifocal or prismatic prescriptions ourselves - please buy the sunglasses only and refer the optical work to your optician.
This is the distance, in millimetres, between the pupils of your eyes, when measured across the front of your glasses. PD's typically fall in the range of 55 - 70mm. If you choose to have us make up your prescription sunglasses, we will need to know your PD if your SPH requirement exceeds plus or minus 2.5. Opticians measure PD during an eye test, but they do not usually include it on a dispensed prescription card. If you do not know your PD, please ask your optician what it is but please be aware some will refuse to give it to you because you are having eyewear made somewhere else.
If you do not know your PD, and your optician will not tell you what it is, you can measure it quite easily yourself. With your regular spectacles on, ask someone to hold a ruler up against your glasses and measure off, in millimetres, the distance between the centres of your pupils.
If your distance correction requirement is quite small, and you do not know or submit your PD, we will set it to the national average of 63mm. Since the tolerance for a PD is quite wide for smaller strengths, this will work for most customers.
Turnaround times from date of order is typically 7 - 10 days for UK orders, and a little longer for overseas. Bifocal orders will take longer than those with distance correction only.
Please note that we cannot fit varifocal or prismatic lenses - your optician will be able to help with these requirements.
You will notice we offer a choice of prescription lens materials. The standard, cheapest option is C39, which offers adequate safety protection in most situations (remember, you have an impact-resistant polycarbonate tinted lens sitting in front of this). If you want even more protection, select polycarbonate lenses instead. Polycarbonate offers a formidable 'second line' of defence for your eyes in the event of an accident. We highly recommend you choose this option if you intend to use your sunglasses for activities such as shooting, airsoft or skiing.
Yes! Our full prescription service is now available to customers worldwide and there are no extra fees.
