Rapid Eyewear's Pro Performance Photo Rx prescription sunglasses provide the ideal solution for all your sports and leisure needs. They consist of a sports-wrap frame, Rx optical clip and photochromic lens that darkens with the light, changing from clear (untinted) to Category 3 and back again.
You can choose to have your single-vision or bifocal lenses added by selecting the appropriate option from the drop-down menu above, and then adding your prescription details in the fields provided. If you are not certain how to do this, please call us on (+44) (0)1622 812133 or send an email and we will be pleased to help.
Our corrective sunglasses feature a matt-black finished frame, which has a prescription Rx clip housed in the back and a tinted lens assembly on the front. This two-part arrangement allows for great versatility and performance, whilst the wrap-around styling blocks unwanted wind and light encroaching from the sides and bottom of your vision. The Pro Performance sunglasses look good too, easily matching the style of many non-prescription sport sunglasses designs.
The frames are lightweight and tough, whilst the Rx clip, made from an ultra tough polycarbonate compound, ensures maximum protection for your eyes from impact.
The tinted lens clips onto the top of the frame, allowing it to be flipped up for momentary non-tinted vision when required.
Our new and innovative photochromic lens changes from clear, right down to Category 3 (for sunshine) and back again, as conditions change. Made from a tough polycarbonate material, the lens is anti-scratch coated and attaches to the main frame by means of a spring clip.
To add prescription lenses, choose your preferred option from the drop-down menu at the top of this page and fill in the boxes that appear before proceeding to the checkout. Please read through the information below before you proceed.
Pro Performance sunglasses can be used for any regular prescription where the SPH (Sphere) requirement is less than, or greater than, 4.5. Due to the curvature of the tinted lenses, they will not be suitable for those with very strong prescription requirements that exceed 4.5.
They are also suitable for bi-focal, varifocal and prismatic lenses but please note, we cannot add varifocal or prismatic prescriptions ourselves - please buy the sunglasses only and refer the work to your optician.
This is the distance, in millimetres, between the pupils of your eyes, when measured across the front of your glasses. PD's typically fall in the range of 55 up to 70mm. If you choose to have us make up your prescription sunglasses, we will need to know your PD. Opticians measure PD during an eye test, but they often do not put the result on a prescription card provided to the patient. If you do not know your PD, please ask your optician what it is. Unfortunately, some opticians will not release the measurement and in the UK, they are not obliged to do so.
You can measure your own PD easily. With your regular glasses on, ask someone to hold a ruler up against your glasses and measure off, in millimetres, the distance between the centres of your pupils.
Turnaround times from date of order is typically 7 - 14 days for UK orders, and a little longer for overseas. Bifocal orders take a little longer than distance-only.
Please note that we cannot fit varifocal or prismatic lenses - your optician will be able to help with these requirements.
Yes! Our full prescription service is now available to customers worldwide and there are no extra fees.
Rapid Eyewear sunglasses conform to ISO 12311 and 12312 standards for sunglasses and protective equipment testing. They offer 100% UVA / UVB (UV400) protection and comply with US Z80.3.
You will notice we offer a choice of prescription lens materials. The standard, cheapest option is C39, which offers adequate safety protection in most situations (remember, you have an impact-resistant polycarbonate tinted lens sitting in front of this). If you want even more protection, select polycarbonate lenses instead. Polycarbonate offers a formidable 'second line' of defence for your eyes in the event of an accident. We highly recommend you choose this option if you intend to use your sunglasses for activities such as shooting, airsoft or skiing.
A wide range of additional, interchangeable tinted lenses can be purchased for this product. You can view the full range here.
