CRUISE PILOT SUNGLASSES
Cruise pilot sunglasses feature lenses that have been specifically designed and manufactured for aviation purposes, with interchangeable lenses for different light conditions. Cruise also feature a lightweight yet strong TR90 frame, which has flat side arms that sit comfortably beneath a headset.
The Cruise sunglasses have a wrap-around design that blocks unwanted light (and wind) from the peripheries of your vision. In line with CAA recommendations, they are not polarised, thereby ensuring you can read instruments whilst wearing these sunglasses.
Lenses
The interchangeable lenses are:
- Yellow (category 1) for poor light, and flying at night
- Red (category 2) average sunlight or changeable conditions
- Grey mirror (category 3), bright conditions
- Smoked (category 4), very bright conditions
All lenses benefit from an anti-scratch coating, and our de-centering process, which calibrates out the potential distorting effects of placing a curved lens in front of your eyes.
The category 0 lens set features an anti glare coating on the rear surface, which effectively removes glare from street and building lights etc. in the dark.

Conformity and UV
Rapid Eyewear sunglasses conform to all current British, European and US standards for sunglasses. They offer 100% UVA / UVB (UV400) protection.
The Package
All sunglasses come with 4 x sets of lenses as standard, a cleaning cloth and a carry case with belt clip and internal compartments for housing the extra lenses.
Extra Lens Options
You can purchase polarised lens options plus a clear option as optional extras by selecting the appropriate button near the top of this page before completing your purchase. Polarised lenses reduce glare, making them excellent for general sports & leisure use. Please note these lenses must not be used for flying as they do not meet CAA recommendations, due to the fact it is difficult to read digital instruments with such lenses fitted.
