Mountaineering Goggles (With Prescription options): Edmonton

Featuring a double-layer anti fog lens system and triple-layer insulating foam, Edmonton are a high-spec pair of climbing goggles that will suit beginners and experts alike. If you require prescription mountaineering goggles, Edmonton can be configured to suit your needs by adding an Rx adaptor. For details on ordering a full prescription service, see below.

The Frames

Manufactured from a tough polycarbonate, the Edmonton frame is finished in an attractive black and white and colour scheme. It is lightweight and extremely comfortable, thanks to foam inserts that also serve to keep the cold and wind out of your eyes. The triple layer foam system ensures high levels of safety in the event of a mishap, whilst reducing the levels of sweat and fogging around the goggles as you climb.

The Lenses

Edmonton mountaineering goggles have an attractive and optically precise orange mirror lens on the front, plus a clear lens to the rear, creating a sealed cavity that traps warm air and prevents fogging in a highly effective fashion. The lenses are made from impact-resistant polycarbonate, and are anti-scratch coated.

How To Order

To add prescription lenses, choose your preferred option by clicking on the relevant button at the top of this page and then complete the information boxes that appear by matching the correct parameters from the drop-down menus with those on your dispensed prescription. Please read through the information below before you proceed.

If there is nothing written in some or all of the CYL (cylinder) and Axis boxes on your prescription, please select 0 from the menu where relevant. See the section below on 'Pupillary Distance' for information on what to enter here.

SPH (sphere) and CYL (cylinder) readings are always accompanied by a plus or minus sign. It is very important that you choose the correct plus or minus parameter from the menu for each reading. Sometimes if the readings are minus, the sign will be written above the numbers by your optician.

PD (Pupillary Distance)

This is the distance, in millimetres, between the centre of your eye pupils, when measured across the front of your glasses. PD's typically fall in the range of 55 up to 70mm. If you choose to have us make up your prescription sunglasses, it helps if we know your PD but in many cases it isn't essential. Opticians measure PD during an eye test, but they do not usually put the result on a prescription dispensed to their clients. You can ask your optician what your PD is, but they are not legally obliged to tell you, and they are often reluctant as they do not want to encourage you to spend your money elsewhere.

The good news is, you can measure your own PD quite easily. With your regular glasses on, ask someone to hold a ruler up against your glasses and measure off, in millimetres, the distance between the centres of your eye pupils. That's all there is to it.

If you do not know what your PD is and you are having difficulties obtaining or measuring it, you can leave the box blank. Should we need to know an accurate PD we will contact you.
